Chesterfield is a city located in the eastern portion of Missouri. The city has a population of approximately 47,484 residents according to the 2010 United States Census. It is Missouri’s fourteenth largest city and half the size of St. Louis. The city was originally inhabited by Native Americans for thousands of years before settlers discovered the area of Chesterfield. The area in which Chesterfield is located was originally referred to as Gumbo Flats, due to its rich soil that became like gumbo when wet.

Chesterfield has many entertaining things to see and do. The city is full of many beautiful parks and trails that, when combined, total over 488 acres of parklands. Currently under construction is the Veterans Honor Park which is intended to be a place of gathering for individuals and families to honor veterans.  Also located in Chesterfield is the Valley Athletic Complex. The 176-acre facility is made up of many different sports fields, playgrounds, and concession buildings. The Riparian Trail is a half mile long pedestrian and bike path. Also located in the city is the Monarch-Chesterfield Levee Trail, an 11-mile long trail of commercial, industrial, and recreational land.

Weather in Chesterfield is typically characterized by cool winters and warm summers. The months of winter in the city have daytime temperatures that range from the upper-30s to mid-40s on average. Residents should invest in heating systems that are capable of withstanding plenty of use during the cooler months.

During the months of summer, temperatures tend to remain in the upper-80s and low-90s. In addition to warm temperatures, rain is very common during these months.
